the new house

We're in Indianapolis now! Chris is a lot closer to work, and I'll be starting rotations next week. These last couple of weeks that I've had off have been glorious. Here are some pictures that we took (ok, Chris took) of our new little townhouse.

The entry way:

Chris loves the couch we bought on craigslist:

our little patio (with 3 out of our 4 bikes under the tarp for now):

and some pictures of upstairs. We'd still like to paint the bedroom. Any ideas on colors?

So that's it. We like it a lot. We're still getting to know the area and looking for a church. We went to one last sunday that we liked... it might be a keeper, we'll see. Come visit us soon!

my life (with the books)

So if you don't count the celebrity look-alike thing that Chris posted on my site it's been over a year since I wrote anything on here. Not my spiritual gift I guess - xanga writting. But I enjoy reading everyone else's. Lately there's a lot of talk at school about the end of the year and boards and third year. So here's what's going on:

1) 2 and a half more weeks of classes. To think that I've been a student for the past 18 years of my life and I only have 2 and a half more weeks in the classroom. I still have two more years of being a student but I'll be spending every day in a hospital or clinic. No more of this sitting in a class with a professor lecturing for the majority of the day. Very exciting.

2) After that: finals, or as they call them in med school for some odd reason, shelf exams.

3) May 28th, 2008. Step 1 of the boards. D day. Very scary. Everything we've learned or were supposed to have learned in these two years and more.

4) June 1st. Moving to Indy! We found a place on Saturday that's super cute! (and a bonus: Chris' commute will go from 45 min to 15 min. Isn't that cool? Mine will go from the 3 minutes or less that it is now to about 15. A rough life).

5) June 16th. Official beginning of my third year! I just got my schedule preference today which is probably why I'm writting all this in the first place. I'm starting out with Family medicine, then vacation in July, when it's actually warm weather (yes, even in Indiana, although it's hard to believe) and mom and dad will be here from argentina, then pediatrics til about october I think. Surgery is next, then ob/gyn (with a few days off in there for Christmas), then surgery subspecialty. My last "block" has internal medicine, neurology, and psychiatry.

Well I guess this post makes me officially a nerd. There's a lot of other things I could write about including a great trip to Florida for spring break, a potential future hike in Brown County with Jen (almost like the St James' way), the married to a cyclist list, a new baby in our small group, playing Rock Band and Wii and teaching Chris Phase 10... but I think Chris has got you mostly covered on the fun stuff going on. Or maybe I just am putting this last paragraph in to make me feel better about having so much of my life revolve around books. I'll let you be the judge.

Oh and here's a picture of Chris and I at the beach that he forgot to post:

it's snowing

No... I haven't fallen off the face of the earth... I'm just back in school. Neuroanatomy has been kicking my butt.  I'll spare you the details (and the whinning) about how much I've been studying but lets just say it's been a long two weeks. I had my first exam today and it was a huge relief to get it over with. Poor Chris is great at being there for me, as always. He put together this super cool bike and is selling it on ebay. Anyone want an expensive mountain bike?

Massa-hockin-chussetts!

My day says stuff like that: "how's that boy from Massa-hockin-chussetts?" or "Jorge and Lorena moved to Chu-hockin-boot." Anyway, in about 20 minutes I'm out the door. I'm super excited to see Dan and Karen and Meri and her new boyfriend. And then there's Grammy with her Boston accent and Aunt Jan and I may even meet some new people at the Christmas party. I really do love his family. It just doesn't feel like Dec 23rd right now without the 90 degree weather of Buenos Aires. I'm praying that I'll keep a good attitude and not be sad about being away from my family. Same goes for Jen in France and Tim in Cali and Mike in Ohio.

In other news, it's been a GREAT week without school. I'll have to tell you all about it sometime.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!
